Transform Your Life in 2020
As we reach the halfway point in August, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the past several months. Although most of my energy has been exhausted by dealing with this pandemic, I am still obligated to plan for my future. Lately, I have been asking myself “How can I finish this year strong?”.
In the midst of uncertainty, I want to remain hopeful and open to the potential of what the end of this year can bring. I want to get as much of a head start on 2021 as possible. I have to get clear on what it is that I want and what steps I must take to accomplish things. I’ve always been extremely ambitious in this way, but this year has brought a new sense of clarity that I have never experienced.
In the past few months I have been sitting in stillness waiting to see how things would unfold. I started feeling like I was abandoning some of my goals due to not knowing when the world would return to what I knew it to be. Then it hit me! We never know what is to come, yet we still motivate ourselves to move forward and plan for the life we want. This year made it clear that tomorrow is not promised. That was my motivation to make things happen faster. We are at the end of the third quarter and quickly heading into the fourth quarter of 2020. Lets get it!!
Here are 5 ways to make the most of finishing this year with a BANG:
Embrace the present time - sometimes we spend too much time dwelling on the past and thinking of the future. The present moment gets neglected. Living in that space can often create the energy of procrastination and stagnation.
Try this! Create a list of all the things you have accomplished in the past, all the learning lessons you have experienced and let that shit go! Use this information to craft a plan for moving forward and making shit happen.
Set goals and plan them - create a list of things you wish to accomplish in the coming weeks and months. Putting things on paper is one of the most powerful things you can do! It creates a visual road map of where you are headed. I use SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely). To learn more about SMART Goals click here.
Take accountability - These are your goals and only yours, so push yourself to achieve them. Make the effort to reduce procrastination, overcome feelings of fear, and tackle obstacles that might arise. Remind yourself that if you do not put in the work that is on you and no one else.
Be consistent with your efforts - we often fall into the feeling of doing just enough to make it by or overthinking our goals into delayed action. Be mindful that even a small step each day will grow into a big one. Take risks and develop tunnel vision for YOUR vision.
Stay connected to self - Understand that we evolve without realizing it sometimes. What use to work for us might not cut it anymore. Change is inevitable and necessary as we grow through life. Remind yourself to stay connected to where you are now and honor this new space. You will create the ideal life for yourself, so forget what use to be an operate on what it could be.
