To-Do List: Life Audit

Most of us are zooming through the days and weeks. Subconsciously just getting by and surviving. Our dreams and goals are at the end of the tunnel, but the tunnel might be getting longer in our minds. Once feelings like these creep into our daily life its time to take a big step back and complete a life audit.

A life audit is considered cleaning the soul. It’s a self-reflective state of being that allows us to reset and see clearly in the direction we want our lives to go. I personally feel that everyone can benefit from a life audit. I also feel that since we are moving into the last half of the year it is the perfect time to perform one.

The core of a life audit is tapping into our aspirations and our intentions. Thinking about each aspect of life and regrouping our wants and needs in those areas. If you are feeling unproductive or stuck, then I highly recommend doing this. Reflecting on our life will create better decision making and ultimately make us feel more balanced.

Here are a few questions you can ask yourself to jump start your life audit:

Where do I begin and what is a priority?

How do I want to live my day- to- day life?

How am I spending my time? Is it in alignment with my aspirations?

What sparks joy in my life?

Are there any negative influences (people or habits) holding me back?

What do I want my life to look like one year or five years from now?

Taking some alone time to really answer these questions and dig deep should help you see how well you are doing overall and if you need to adjust a few things. Every area of our life is important and needs to be taken care of. A life audit will help you figure out what’s next and what to improve on.

Here are a few things I did during my Life Audit.

  1. Listed the people I value/ people who are toxic. In addition, new relationships I wanted to cultivate.

  2. Wrote down my accomplishments from the past year and what I hope to accomplish in the next one.

  3. Listed my daily routine and how I spend/waste my free time.

  4. Created a list of my short-term goals, long-term goals, and daily/monthly goals.

  5. Wrote down a personal mantra that motivated me and kept it visible daily.

When doing a life audit I urge you to be extremely intentional and think of your life from a different perspective. Review your life in terms of liabilities and assets. The liabilities are the things that are costing you and delaying you from your goals and the assets are the ones that are pushing you toward your purpose. For this to be successful you will have to be honest and transparent with yourself about your life.

Happy Auditing!
