THE BOOK OF HOV EXperience

It was once said “I'd rather die enormous than live dormant, that's how we on it.” Let that sink in for a second! This one line alone is enough to motivate you to live the biggest life possible while you are granted time on this earth. If you’ve been impacted by the culture of NYC Hip-Hop, then you”ll enjoy this exhibit at The Brooklyn Public Library.

The Book Of HOV a tribute to Brooklyn, NY rapper Jay-Z. This immersive display showing in depth details of his journey from Marcy Projects as a young artist to becoming one of the most iconic worldwide. If you’re searching for New York nostalgia or looking to be inspired on a higher level this exhibit is guaranteed to give you both.

What I loved about this exhibit is the carefully crafted themes and esthetic showing the life of Jay-z that we know and love, much through mainstream media and of course his behind the scene movement as well. The Book Of Hov highlights eight key areas in his life. Beginning with Section 1: The Introduction and ending with Section VIII: Hov Did That. You can expect to learn about his many different themes and accomplishments. Be prepared to take a stroll down memory lane looking at all the magazine covers he graced such as XXL to information on his role in advocacy in policing and prison reform.

I truly enjoyed the entire exhibit. My favorite was Hov’s Hands located in the introduction area. The sculpture is made of Volcanic ash, pyrite, selenite, and hydrostone. If you are familiar with your healing crystals then you can appreciate this on a deeper level. My second favorite was Hov Did That, a collection of inspirational video footage displayed on large projector screens of him sharing his insight, mission, and purpose.

To wrap up the exhibit you can visit the customer care counter to apply for a HOV Library Card which I thought was pretty damn cool. So If you’re in New York City whether your a Jay-Z fan or not this is certainly a worthy experience. Make sure you rock your favorite Jay-Z album to get you in vibrational sync with this experience.
