Summer Wellness: 5 Self-Care Tips

We have officially transitioned into a new season celebrating Summer Solstice yesterday. It was the longest day of the year and arrives with deep spiritual meaning, evoking self-reflection as we move forward in the year.

I like to think of this time as a mini- reset. This is the perfect time to create some mindful intentions, form new habits, and refresh the ways in which we have been caring for ourselves. This is my favorite season and I normally get a burst of new energy during this time.

Here are a few great self-care tips to reset your routine and head into the last half of the year feeling loved and full of joy.

DEEP CLEANSE

Open all the windows and dust those hard to reach spots. Rearrange the furniture to get the energy flowing through your space. Smudge your space by lighting some sage or palo santo and wave the smoke through each room. For help with smudging tips click here and download the Elements of Smudging Guide.

DECLUTTER AND DONATE

Purge old clothes that you no longer find use for or haven’t worn in over 8 months. That’s my mini rule of thumb. Discard items that are overly worn and donate the rest to help people in need. Add summer items to your wardrobe and make room to purchase fall and winter items later in the year. Free up energy in the home by decluttering other areas like the kitchen or garage. Sell items to increase your savings stash.

REVIVE YOUR BODY

This is the perfect time to commit to a healthier way. This includes staying hydrated, reducing processed foods, and revamping your skincare routine. Choosing healthier foods and products that are higher in quality will give us the energy we need to get through the summer. Having glowing skin isn’t so bad either.

GET SUNLIGHT

Immerse yourself under the sun and spend time in nature. Direct sunlight is a great source of energy for the body. It also helps promote healing of the mental body. Connecting with nature heals the mind and body from a spiritual perspective. The sun is helpful for charging and cleansing our chakras.

LEARN SOMETHING

Challenge yourself by expanding your mind with something new. Work on your creative projects, read that book you’ve been meaning to read, take a class and learn a new skill. Find a certification and become certified in your professional career. If you want to dive a little deeper take some times to learn yourself. Tap into who you are becoming.
