Law 25: Re-create yourself

I am sure you have heard of the book “The 48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene. If you have not read it I highly recommend you add this to your library. This book offers new perspective on life and how we deal with people around us. What’s interesting to me is the power we hold is often not realized in its true potential. I guarantee once you read this book and fully understand how each law applies to your daily life you will unlock a magical place in your mind.

Law 25 starts off with this summary “ Do not accept the roles that society foists on you. Re-create yourself by forging a new identity, one that commands attention and never bores the audience. Be the master of your own image rather than letting others define it for you. Incorporate dramatic devices into your public gestures and actions – your power will be enhanced and your character will seem larger than life”

I will admit this is by far my favorite law, because it’s a reminder that I have re-created myself over the years and I will continue to do so moving into the future. The only difference I feel after reading this law is in what ways I should be re-creating myself. I have always thought of re-creating only as shifting into someone new, recently discovering its more about undoing some of my old thinking patterns and habits. This undoing will ultimately unveil a newer version of myself.

In hindsight, this law makes me intentionally think about how I project myself on to the world. I’ve unknowingly learned how to adapt to any environment as I’ve aged and gained some wisdom in dealing with others. In some scenarios I call myself an actress who has learned to navigate through situations with ease. In the end that energy has benefited me in many ways. One way is I can control my emotions and act with a sound mind. Another is how I can stand out from the crowd with my thinking, conversation, movement, and charm.

I won’t get too much deeper into this Law, however, I encourage you to think of ways in which you can re-create yourself. It begins with a little self-awareness and honesty about how you wish to live your life inside and out. Start with that vision and I promise the process will be so rewarding and joyous.

I highly recommend this book!
