Spring Cleaning for the Soul

As the trees regrow their leaves again and daylight hangs around a little longer, spring brings us a season of growth and renewal, indicating a time of transformation. Every year, as the flowers begin to bloom, I find myself eagerly anticipating not only the warmer weather but also my personal ritual of spring cleaning. It's not just about dusting and mopping; it's a comprehensive overhaul that extends to various aspects of my life, creating space for growth and alignment.

Reflecting and Setting Intentions: Spring cleaning is more than opening the windows and burning sage – it's a journey of self-discovery. I begin by reflecting on what has served me well and what requires me to pivot. This introspection forms the foundation for setting new goals that align with my current phase of life, reminding me of my purpose and direction.

Breaking Down Life's Areas: Every area of life deserves our full undivided attention, and spring is the ideal time to initiate positive changes. I intentionally assess areas such as my physical well-being, creative pursuits, and financial goals. This holistic approach ensures that no aspect of my life is overlooked including the energy of my living space.

My Very Good Ways to "Spring Clean":

  1. Decluttering and Letting Go: I go on a decluttering spree, discarding items that no longer serve me. This process extends beyond physical possessions, touching upon mental and emotional clutter as well. Letting go creates space for new possibilities. It allows me to feel free and lighter.

  2. Revitalizing Spaces: Aesthetic enhancements breathe new life into my surroundings. Whether it's purchasing a new plant, adding a piece of art, or investing in new pillows, these changes invigorate my space.

  3. Deep Cleaning Rituals: I delve into those often-neglected corners, dusting ceiling fans and washing windows. It's not just about cleanliness; it's a symbolic act of removing accumulated dust and embracing clarity. This is the time I express gratitude over my home as well. I light a sage smudge and pray over my space.

  4. Digital and Social Detox: Just as physical spaces benefit from decluttering, so do digital realms. I purge my email accounts, delete contacts in my phone, and evaluate my social media connections. This digital detox promotes mental clarity and a more intentional online presence. I go as far as deleting text messages as well.

  5. Financial Spring Cleaning: Reviewing spending habits and setting new financial goals is an essential part of this process for me. It ensures that my financial well-being aligns with the lifestyle I choose. It also allows me to realistically plan for all the fun I wish to have during the summer months.

  6. Spiritual Growth: During my spring cleaning ritual, I'm reminded of the spiritual importance of the process. It goes beyond the tangible and impacts the essence of my being. I take this opportunity to deepen my spiritual journey, exploring new perspectives and embracing a mindset that aligns with my self-development and the person I aim to be.

Spring cleaning is not just a physical chore; it's become a practice that rejuvenates my mind, body, spirit and soul. While I am intentional about the changes in various aspects of my life, I make room for an elevated season of renewal, growth, and spiritual enlightenment. Cheers to a spring season that not only brightens your home, but also illuminates the path to our higher self.
