Self Talk: Struggling is part of the process
The most frustrating part about going through a personal struggle is that most of the people around me automatically assume it's over a guy. It's sad that society feels that is the only reason a woman has for feeling blue or crying. When in fact majority of the time a guy is the least of my troubles.
The world minimizes my struggles to heartache. The truth is woman carry the world on our shoulders. I carry the world on MY shoulders. I will not lie and say I have never cried over a guy. I can assure you I have cried more over life in general. Dealing with personal hardships surrounding career, body image, fiances, social life, growth, even my hair are some of the many things I have struggled with over the past year.
I read something recently that put things into perspective for me. It said "Happiness in life is not a matter of having few or no hardships but, rather, of victoriously and gloriously overcoming them all". It was a big reminder for me to acknowledge my feelings and let them go as soon as I can. In addition, I should not be reluctant to share my feelings with someone I trust. I realized that sharing my hardships and thoughts offered me so much relief and opened my heart to new light that they have in return shared with me. Our conversations always end with a renewed sense of gratitude and purpose.
There will be plenty of hardships to come as I embark on this journey called life. My only goal is to overcome them with determination and look back with a feeling of pride. :: INSERTS SMILE::
