Full of D.R.A.M.A
Who wants the D.R.A.M.A.? An acronym meaning Digital Remnants of Actions, Moments & Art. I did and this past Sunday at Central Park in New York City, I was able to join what is now known as the M3LL0 WALK. The M3ll0 Walk has become a space for friends, models, and photographers to connect.
On Sunday, September 20th we celebrated the 8th M3LL0 Walk! With everything going on in our individual lives and the world the energy was refreshing. It was great connecting with familiar faces and being outdoors in nature. It was a big reminder to celebrate life while making as many memories as we could while we could. The overwhelming feeling of happiness and gratitude filled the park as we strolled around finding spaces to put our cameras to work, all while laughing and talking about life. In between photos we sat on the grass and soaked up the sun.

In 2016, curiosity and a camera led Melroy Giles aka M3ll0 to his newfound purpose, which would birth into creative greatness. A creative who found joy in photography and being surrounded by supportive like-minded individuals would spark a movement filled with learning and fun.
In September 2018, M3ll0 curated the first photo walk for people who look like us. The group met at Union Square and was led on a photography tour through New York City streets. Often stopping at moments of inspiration snapping photos of one another along the way. Quickly becoming a safe space for black photographers and creatives who deserved to be seen and heard. M3ll0 Walkers gained attention from friends and onlookers as the group showcased their work on social media.
I could go on and on about why this event is so important for our culture, but I will share what I love about the M3ll0 walk. It is the feeling of community and connectedness that draws you to participate. It is the curiosity of learning something new from others who are not afraid to share their experiences. It is learning how to take better pictures using a cellphone. It is inspiration for those wanting to purchase their first camera. It is the energy of breaking out of comfort zones and gaining the confidence to be a muse for another. It is the opportunity of meeting new people in a different setting. All of this collective energy is what it is all about.
