Enchantments

Only a select few of my closest friends know about my spiritual side. Even fewer know about my mini rituals I perform daily in the privacy of my one-bedroom apartment out in Queens. My goal is to continuously elevate to the highest level in my life. I bet most of you won’t understand what I mean by this and honestly, I don’t care to elaborate at this time. I am a firm believer in manifesting experiences and certain monetary possessions. I am what I like to call an energy transfer enthusiast. Weekly sage smudging princess and a meditating chanting goddess when I am not out doing real life shenanigans.

During my visit to the Lit Bar Book store in the Bronx, NY I stumbled across the book titled “Enchantments a modern witch’s guide to self-possessions”.  After reading the title alone I was hooked and immediately knew this book was strategically placed near the register for little ol’ me. Its bright attention-grabbing purple cover lured me over and so I bought it.

The author Mya Spalter shares with you her experience working at one of New York City’s oldest occult stores called Enchantments. She details the energy at the store and how they single handedly helped hundreds of New Yorkers cast spells and manifest their worldly desires. Some call it witchcraft and people like me call it life lol. She vividly walks you through everything from creating an alter aka sacred space to love spells and astrology.

If you are like me and you are into setting deep intentions, magic, rituals, and visualizing a new life for yourself then you will find pleasure in reading this book. She is humorous, and the art work is amazingly fun and relatable.

This book is divided into 2 parts with a total of 12 sections about “witchcraft culture”. I used parenthesis for a reason and I am sure you’re smart enough to understand why. I think. lol

  1. Altars and how to create one

  2. Colors and how their representation can invoke change

  3. Candles and how to cast a spell

  4. Plants and Minerals and the use of herbs

  5. Planets and their significance in the universe

  6. The Calendar for witchy holidays and festivals

  7. Magical Collaborations with like minded individuals

  8. Uncrossing, protecting, and banishing tools in preventing negative energies

  9. Attraction Magic spells and how to perform them

  10. Money Drawings spells and how to perform them

  11. Divination and how to gain insight

  12. Astrology and its awesomeness.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves crystals, manifesting, energies/vibes, and setting intentions for attracting the life you want.

Here are my biggest takeaways from Enchantments a modern day witch’s guide to self possession by Mya Spalter.

1. Most people think anything deeply spiritual represents being a witch or evil

2. Performing a love spell might not be a good Idea unless it is on yourself

3. Practicing rituals on a budget is possible

4. Setting boundaries and protecting your energy is mandatory

5. You can manifest anything and heal anything if your intentions are good

“I find that mindfully taking a moment to ritualize my intentions helps me to will that best, most exalted self into being.”
Mya Spalter
