4 SImple ways to start each month

As the iconic Bone Thugs-N-Harmony chorus goes:

"Wake up, wake up, wake up
It's the first of the month
So get up, get up, get up
So cash your checks and come up"

I know y'all remember these lyrics—they're perfect for starting a new month. It's a clean slate to reflect, plan, and hit the ground running. Whether last month was a whirlwind of productivity or a series of laid-back days, the beginning of a new month offers a chance to realign with what truly matters.

We're blessed with approximately 30 days to do our best, and then we get to start over, refining our approach each time. As we round out the first quarter of the year, let's remember the power of intentionality and focus. Living a fulfilling, secure, and inspiring life is the goal.

Reflection and Celebration

Take a moment to reflect on what you did well and what could've been better last month. Celebrate all your wins, big or small. And don't beat yourself up if you didn't hit all your goals or struggled with the basics. Personally, I get so focused on my objectives that I sometimes forget to pat myself on the back for the progress made, quickly moving on to the next achievement. Reflecting allows us to gather insights and move forward with clarity.

Set Strong Intentions

Having a list of goals or dreams is great, but what's the intention behind them? Understanding why something is important to you ignites the passion needed to put in the work. A long to-do list holds little weight without clear intention. Let's move away from doing things just because they seem cool, someone else suggested them, or for the sake of clout. Make sure your actions align with your values and hold personal meaning.

Declutter Your Space

Clean your space! A messy, cluttered, and—universe forbid—dirty environment can cause chaos in your mind and body. Spend a few minutes tidying up the areas you use most and sanitize thoroughly. Extend this beyond the physical space by deleting old text messages and emails. Even a slight refresh can bring calmness and fresh energy, setting a positive tone for the month ahead.

Refresh Your Finances

An intentional financial check-in can set you up nicely for the month. Money can be a source of stress and instability or a tool for empowerment and enjoyment. Set goals like saving a bit more, spending a bit less, or paying off debt. A monthly overview provides insight into what you need versus what you want, leading to greater confidence.

My personal advice? Write it all down—literally anything that comes to mind. Storing it all in your head is fine, but putting pen to paper is a game-changer. Trust me, it's the best feeling.

May this month be your best one yet!
