How To Kill Your Inner Basic Bitch
In my spare time I am infamous for curling up with a good book. My goal every year is 12 books, one book a month. Although, I skipped a few months I recently reviewed my Book Bucket List. I picked up a few books, but none of them held my interest for more than a few chapters. My mind being so busy with writing and other creative projects, I decided to take a break from everything. The following few weeks I did the bare minimum – work, eat, shit, and sleep. I was living a basic ass life and not sure how I got stuck there. One evening while browsing on Amazon I came across a book that Immediately grabbed my attention with the title. I was pretty much sold after reading the introduction. Some of the language seemed a bit silly and offensive, but that’s right up my alley. LOL
So, I began reading The Unicorn Delusion: How To Kill Your Inner Basic Bitch by G.L. Lambert
The book starts with a powerful statement “It’s time to get back to being the powerful bad-ass woman that you know you are…..” Me being in my so-called rut I was screaming YESSS!!!! at the first paragraph. He suggests taking a moment to collect yourself and purge through any feelings or moments you are currently having and regaining your power in your universe. You can expect to be told off and feel uncomfortable at the raw uncut truth about all the bullshit in your life both past and present. A few times throughout this book I caught my saying “FUCK YOU” as I continued to flipping pages. He makes sure to point out all the things we probably are doing and not even realize we have been doing it. At one Point I put the book down and had to really ask myself “Am I a basic bitch?”
The book is a mini guide to what he calls “Spartanhood” and on resetting yourself to Goddess like behavior. This book is not for females who fail to take accountability for their actions. If you are that female than go read Steve Harvey’s book - that might be better for you. This book covers everything from immature mindsets, men, sex, dating and relationships. The end of the book gives you a 3-day guide on how to revamp with everything you’ve just read.
I really enjoyed reading the book because I love how it was written. Many chapters were either funny, aha moments, or experiences that resonated with me on a multitude of levels.
Here are my biggest takeaways from The Unicorn Delusion:
1. The clothes don’t make the woman; the woman makes the clothes
2. You invent the positive as well as the negative
3. Some believe that the solution to feeling better about life is external, not internal
4. Step into your femininity and step out of your basic bitchness
5. If the relationship is rocky it’s partly your fault
I will leave you with the quote from the very beginning of the book………..
“Getting rid of a delusion makes us wiser than getting hold of the truth.”
-Ludwig Borne
